American Express Announces Hilton Card Revamp

First Capital One launched their Savor dining rewards card, then Barclaycard broke news of an exciting new Uber card. Now, American Express is getting into the new card announcement with 4 refocused Hilton co-branded credit cards. For those of you that don't know, both Citi and AmEx had previously offered Hilton branded credit cards. AmEx won the exclusive right to the business and is acquiring the existing Citi Hilton customers. In order to re-balance their card offering for Hilton, AmEx is revamping the cards in January to streamline their product offering. The result is some very attractive offers for Hilton lovers.

AmEx plans to give consumers lots of options when it comes to Hilton. We value Hilton points at about half a cent each, so you can take that into consideration when reviewing the earn rates.  We have been able to redeem at rates closer to 1 cent per point on many occasions. Hilton Gold status has also been great with the existing Surpass product for savings on breakfast and free room upgrades. We'll post individual reviews for each card when the products launch.

Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card - Perhaps the most exciting offer added. The annual rewards of a complimentary weekend night, $250 airline incidental fee credit, $250 Hilton resort credit, and $100 Waldorf/Conrad credits more than make up for the $450 annual fee, if you can make use of those perks. The card also comes with Hilton Diamond status, the highest status offered by Hilton today. Overall this is a very competitive product in the luxury card space and we are excited to get our hands on one when it is officially released.

Overall, we think these changes are positive. AmEx has been in a bit of a funk with their card offerings, losing the JetBlue, Costco, and Fidelity credit cards. It's nice to see them make some solid improvements.
