Fresh off the heals of Savor, the 3% cash back dining rewards card from Capital One, and Barclaycard's co-branded Uber card that earns 4% cash back on dining, and Hilton's new line up of Amex cards, Starbucks has announced its own co-branded card with Chase. It's been a busy month for credit card news. How exciting?! We know most of you don't get involved in the day-to-day hooray that is credit card comings and goings.
Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson made the announcement Thursday during the company's fourth-quarter earnings call. He stated the card will allow customers to receive Starbucks rewards with purchases they make both in and out of the chain's stores, but left the rest to the imagination. If we had to gamble, we'd imagine a Chase Freedom Unlimited knockoff that offers 1.5% cash back on everything, and maybe 3% at Starbucks. We're not expecting to be wowed with this one.
Details on the card are light, but it is slated to launch this winter with a companion prepaid debit card.
